This is Orchard House. It’s in Fairy Cross, North Devon. It’s a converted barn on a 20-acre estate with woods and meadows. You share the grounds with one other house, Chapman House, but you have your own garden.
It sleeps 14, which is a lot of people. Six bedrooms, five bathrooms. Four of those bedrooms have en-suites. It’s a 5 Star place, so it’s well kitted out and comfortable. The kitchen is big with a double range cooker, and there’s a separate study with a TV and a PlayStation. The main lounge has a wood burner.
Outside, there’s a long stone patio with a table. The view is over fields, no other houses in the way. You also get shared use of a tennis court and a games room with a pool table and table tennis.
It’s about a 30 minute walk through the private woodland to a quiet pebble and sand beach. The South West Coast Path is there. If you drive, Westward Ho! and Bude’s surfing beaches are not far. The Tarka Trail for cycling is nearby too.
For days out, there’s plenty: National Trust Devon has several properties close by, and the RHS garden at Rosemoor is worth a visit. Hartland Abbey and Clovelly village are also in the area.
Practical things: parking on site, bedding and towels are included, WiFi, washing machine, dishwasher. There’s a cot and highchair if you need them. You can bring up to two dogs.
You can book the house next door, Chapman House, as well if you’ve got a bigger group. Together they sleep 24.
