This is Shippen. It's one of three barns here in Venn, near Hartland in North Devon. It's for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom. Everything's on one level which is handy.
It's a converted barn so it's got high ceilings and oak floors. It's warm and comfortable. It's got a 5 Star rating, which sounds fancy but really it just means it's been done to a good standard and has everything you need.
You get your own little courtyard outside the barn door. There's a shared area with a barbecue and a herb garden. There's a big meadow too, which is good for letting dogs run.
The owners have a smallholding next door with vegetables, chickens, and so on. They've got wildlife boxes and ponds. There's an owl observatory you can use. The skies are dark here, so on a clear night you can see a lot of stars.
The nearest beach is Bucks Mills, about two and a half miles. It's sand and shingle. Dog friendly. Hartland and Clovelly are close. Clovelly is the one with the steep, cobbled street. Bude, with its big sandy beaches, is about a twenty minute drive.
There's a village shop and a pub in Woolfardisworthy, two miles away. The pub does food. There's a fish and chip shop next to it.
You can store bikes or surfboards here. There's an outside tap for rinsing off.
We take up to two dogs. There's no extra charge for them.
