Aunt Nell's Cottage

Aunt Nell's Cottage is in Milford. It's a hamlet, so just a few houses together in the country. It's about four miles from Hartland village and a mile from the coast path.

It sleeps four in two bedrooms. One bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's a converted stone barn, so the rooms feel solid. You've got your own garden with a patio. The garden gets the sun in the afternoon.

There's parking right there. Inside, it's got a washing machine, dishwasher, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if you need them. One well-behaved dog is welcome.

From the back door, you can walk straight onto footpaths that lead to the coast. It's about a twenty minute walk to get to the cliff tops. It's a proper rugged bit of coastline. The National Trust looks after a lot of it.

Hartland has a shop, a post office, and a couple of pubs that do food. The nearest beach is Speke's Mill Mouth, which is a waterfall onto a stony beach. For a sandy swim, you'd drive to Bude or Westward Ho!. They're about a twenty minute drive.

Clovelly is famous, and it's ten miles away. It's a steep, cobbled street down to the harbour. You pay to go in, but it's a thing to see. Bideford is a bit further, that's a proper town with shops.

If you've got kids, The Big Sheep and The Milky Way are both within half an hour. For a day out, you can get a boat to Lundy Island from Bideford or Ilfracombe. It's good for seals and puffins.
