The Old Roundhouse is a converted barn on our farm near Hartland. It's detached and you won't see another house from it. The garden's yours, it's big, and it looks straight out over fields.
It sleeps ten people. Five bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. There's also a wet room on the ground floor. It's a 5 Star place, so it's well kitted out. Underfloor heating throughout, which is good because the slate floors can be cold.
The original roundhouse part is the living area. The walls are stone, there are beams, and the stairs are a proper spiral staircase. It's quite steep. Kids love it, but you need to watch your step.
We leave some basics for you when you arrive: milk, tea, coffee, and a cream tea. There's also a chilled bottle of wine and some beers in the fridge.
You can walk to Hartland village in about ten minutes across our fields. There are shops and a few pubs there. For a beach, Spekes Mill is about a mile and a half on foot. It's sandy at low tide, good for surfing and rock pools.
Hartland Abbey is nearby if you like gardens. Clovelly is about a fifteen minute drive, but it's a steep walk down to the harbour. Bude is roughly half an hour by car for bigger shops or a surf.
In the house there's a games room with a pool table, a washing machine, a dishwasher, and WiFi. The garden has a BBQ. We can take up to two dogs.
For planning walks or trips, the North Devon National Landscape site is useful, and a lot of the coast is looked after by the National Trust.
