The Shippen is a converted barn on the edge of a smallholding. It's detached and feels quiet, down a private lane. You get views over the fields.
It sleeps four across two bedrooms. There's a bathroom for each bedroom, which is handy. One bedroom is downstairs. Upstairs, there's also a single bed on the landing area, suitable for a younger guest.
The main room is open plan and feels quite spacious. There's a wood burner for cooler evenings. The kitchen has an electric Aga, a dishwasher, and a washing machine is in the downstairs bathroom. The conservatory gets a lot of sun and leads out to a patio and lawn.
The garden isn't fully enclosed, so you need to be mindful of that if you bring a dog. There are chickens, ducks, and geese roaming the smallholding. The water comes from a private supply that's tested regularly.
Hartland village is about a mile and a half away. It has shops, a post office, and a few pubs. Hartland Quay is a ten minute drive. It's dramatic coastline with a beach and a pub too. There are plenty of other beaches, from rocky coves to bigger sandy ones like Bude, within about half an hour.
For walking, you're on the edge of the woodland here, and the South West Coast Path is nearby. The whole area is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Facilities wise: it's got a 4 Star rating. There's underfloor heating downstairs, radiators upstairs, WiFi, TV, parking, and a cot and highchair if needed. Bedding is included. You can bring one dog.
