Threshing

It's called Threshing. It's one of three converted barns on a smallholding near the hamlet of Venn, Devon. It's quiet here, proper countryside, but you're only a few miles from the coast.

The barn sleeps two. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a 5 Star rating. That means it's been finished to a high standard. There's underfloor heating, oak floors, high ceilings. The space is all open plan.

Outside, you get your own little courtyard seating area for a coffee. There's also a shared herb garden and barbecue spot. There's a big meadow for walking or sitting out. The owners have chickens and ducks, and they've done a lot to encourage wildlife. There's even an owl observatory you can use. The parking is on site.

You can bring two dogs. They'll like the meadow. There's also a bike storage area and an outdoor tap for washing down wetsuits or boots.

The nearest shop and pub are in Woolfardisworthy, about two miles away. The pub does food and there's a decent fish and chip shop next to it.

For the coast, Bucks Mills beach is probably the closest, about two and a half miles. It's a steep path down to a pebble beach. Hartland and Clovelly are a short drive. Clovelly is that village with the steep, cobbled street and donkeys. For a bigger sandy beach, you'd head to Westward Ho! or over the border into Bude, which is about a half hour drive.

If you want to walk, you're on the edge of the Hartland Peninsula. The South West Coast Path is nearby. For a day out, you can get boat trips to Lundy Island from Bideford, or hire bikes for the Tarka Trail. The RHS gardens at Rosemoor are about a 25 minute drive.

Inside, it's got a TV, WiFi, a washing machine, and a dishwasher. All the bedding and towels are included.
