Thimble Cottage is my place in Hartland, North Devon. It's a converted shippen, so it was a farm building. It's detached, right at the end of a steep, narrow lane. You'll need to take that lane slow. The garden's yours, with an orchard and the valley below.
It sleeps two. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and everything works. It's open plan downstairs. The kitchen's been done well so you can cook properly.
It's remote here. You're in a proper wooded valley. The village is about a quarter of a mile up the lane. There's a shop, a post office, a cafe, and three pubs. One of them does good food. The nearest big supermarket is a half-hour drive away in Bideford or Bude, but the village shop has the basics.
The coast is about two and a half miles. It's rocky, with some sand when the tide's out. For big sandy beaches, you'd drive to Westward Ho! or Bude. The coastal path is right there though. The walking is very good. Hartland Quay and Hartland Point are dramatic. Clovelly is about a twenty minute drive, it's that cobbled village you see in pictures.
For facilities: there's parking right there, a washing machine, WiFi, TV, and a fully enclosed garden. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring two dogs. They get a little welcome pack.
