Bay View
This is Bay View. It's a two-bedroom flat on the second floor of The Adelaide, a quiet block in Shanklin.
The main thing is the view. You get a private balcony off the living room that looks straight out to sea. It's a good spot. You can hear the waves.
Shanklin Beach is right there. You're literally a couple of minutes' walk from the sand. So if you've got kids, or you just like being able to pop down to the sea easily, it works well. The seafront has the usual things like cafes and amusements. The old village part is nice for a wander, with thatched pubs and tea rooms.
Inside, it sleeps four with two bathrooms, which is handy. There are two proper bedrooms. It's got a 5 Star rating, which means everything is in good order and well-equipped. The sofa bed in the living area is fine for occasional use but it's a sofa bed, so best for kids really. The kitchen has a dishwasher and there's a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. Parking is on site.
For things to do, Shanklin Chine is a short walk away. It's a wooded gorge with a path through it. National Trust Isle of Wight has details on that and other places like The Needles. Carisbrooke Castle is about a 20-minute drive. Godshill village, with its model village and shops, is maybe 15 minutes by car. Attractions like Robin Hill or Blackgang Chine are within a 30-minute drive.
