Steephill Lodge is on the Isle of Wight, down in Ventnor. It's my place above the cricket pitch. It's detached, so it's just you.
It's for two people, one bedroom and one bathroom. It's a 3 Star, so it's comfortable and clean but not posh. The big plus is the space. You get private parking for up to two cars, which is a help here. There's a safe storage room inside for bikes if you bring them.
You can use the cricket club grounds. On a match day, you're welcome to watch from your own garden, basically. You can use the pavilion bar too.
The location is the main thing. You're a five minute walk down the hill from Steephill Cove. There's no road to it, you walk down a path. It's a proper old fishing spot. They sell crab and lobster right off the boats. You can get a deckchair on the beach.
Ventnor town is just over a mile away. It's a steep walk back up. The town has a nice esplanade, some tea rooms, a few pubs like the Spyglass Inn, and some odd little shops. It's got that traditional seaside feel.
You're right next to the Ventnor Botanic Garden for a walk. The coastal path is on your doorstep. For a day out, Osborne House is about a half hour drive. So is Carisbrooke Castle. The Needles and places like that are a bit further, maybe forty minutes.
In the lodge, there's a TV, WiFi, and all the bedding and towels are included. The kitchen has what you need. There's a shower. No pets, sorry.
