Hillcroft

Hillcroft is a detached house near the very southern tip of the Isle of Wight, in an area called Niton Undercliff. The views from the front are straight out over the English Channel.

It sleeps six, with three bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. We allow up to two well-behaved dogs.

The garden is enclosed, which is handy with dogs. There's parking on the driveway. Inside, it's got a woodburning stove, a dishwasher, and a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them.

The stairs are fairly typical for a cottage, so they are a bit steep.

You can walk to a local pub, The Buddle Inn, in a few minutes. It's an old place on the cliffs. The village shop is about half a mile away in Niton itself.

For the coast, you can walk down to Castle Cove and Reeth Bay. It's a bit of a scramble over rocks and pebbles to get to the beach, so check the tide times. There's a simple beach cafe at Castle Cove in the warmer months.

Ventnor is a short drive east. It's a proper old seaside town built on a steep hill. It has a nice park, a paddling pool for kids, and the usual seafront cafes and shops.

If you want to explore further, you're well placed for the whole island. The famous Needles are about a 40 minute drive west. Osborne House is a similar drive to the north east. For walks, the coastal path is right on your doorstep. The National Trust looks after a lot of the coastline here and their site is good for planning. The Visit Isle of Wight site is useful for general information.

That's about it. It's a good spot if you want a quiet base to come back to after being out for the day.
