Hadfield Cottage is in Bonchurch, just east of Ventnor on the Isle of Wight. It's part of the grounds of Winterborne House, which is next door. That house was rented by Charles Dickens in 1849, and he wrote some of 'David Copperfield' there. It's just a fact about the place.
The cottage sleeps six. It's got four bedrooms and two bathrooms. The layout is a bit different: two bedrooms and a shower room are on the ground floor. The stairs to the other two bedrooms are normal house stairs, not too steep. It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable and well-equipped.
You get a courtyard garden at the front with a small patio. There's parking for two cars on the drive.
The village of Bonchurch is quiet. It's a short walk down to the beach at Ventnor or Bonchurch, maybe ten or fifteen minutes. Ventnor town is about a mile's walk along the coastal path, or you can drive in two minutes. It's a proper Victorian seaside town with shops, pubs, and places to eat. It has its own micro-climate, so it's often a bit warmer and sunnier.
The coastal path is right there for walking. You're in the Undercliff area, which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
If you want to explore, you can get to most places on the island within half an hour. Osborne House is near East Cowes, Carisbrooke Castle is outside Newport, and Ventnor Botanical Gardens are just up the road. The sailing towns of Yarmouth and Cowes are about a forty-minute drive, depending on traffic.
Facilities: it's got a woodburning stove, dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if you need them. The entrance and the ground floor rooms are wheelchair accessible. We accept up to two dogs.
