Swallow Cottage
This is Swallow Cottage, in Shanklin on the Isle of Wight. It’s not in the town itself, it’s down a quiet country lane. You get a good sense of being away from things here, but you’re only a few minutes in the car from the beach.
It’s a barn conversion that sleeps five. Two bedrooms upstairs, one with a king size bed and the other with three single beds. There’s one bathroom with a shower over the bath. The stairs are typical for a converted barn, so they’re a bit steeper than in a modern house.
Downstairs is all open plan. There’s a wood burner, which is nice in the cooler months, and a Smart TV. The kitchen has what you’d need. The garden is enclosed, which is handy if you’re bringing dogs. You can have up to two pets.
It’s got a 4 Star rating. The place was refurbished not long ago, so it’s in good order. It’s clean and comfortable.
For facilities, you’ve got parking, WiFi, a washing machine, and a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and a highchair if you need them.
Shanklin Beach and the Chine are the main draws locally. The Old Village is worth a wander for a tea or an ice cream. You can be on the coastal path from here quite easily for walking. Sandown is just along the coast.
If you want to explore further, you can drive to places like The Needles or Carisbrooke Castle within half an hour. The whole island is fairly small so nothing feels too far.
