Seaport Cottage is on the lane between Ventnor and Bonchurch. It's detached and sleeps four, with two bedrooms upstairs and a bathroom. One room's a double, the other has two singles that can be zipped together to make a super king if you ask beforehand. It's got a 4 Star rating.
The garden is a bit unusual. It's on a steep bank behind the house, spread over three levels. You go up some fairly steep steps to reach the summerhouse at the top. The view from up there is very good, right out over the sea.
Downstairs is all open plan: kitchen, dining and living area together. There's a stove for cooler evenings. There's also a cloakroom on the ground floor. You get WiFi and a TV. Bedding and towels are included. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
It's a short walk down to Wheelers Bay and the fishermen's huts. Ventnor Beach is about a mile away. The town itself is just over half a mile's walk along the coast. It's built on a steep hill down to the sea. There are tea shops, pubs like the Spyglass Inn, and some independent shops. The microclimate here means it's often a bit warmer and sunnier than other parts.
Bonchurch is the other way, a quiet village with literary connections. For walking, you're right in the middle of the Undercliff, which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Within about half an hour's drive you can get to most of the main things on the island. The Needles and Alum Bay are to the west. Osborne House is near East Cowes. Carisbrooke Castle is towards the centre. Ventnor Botanic Garden is very close by. The sailing towns of Yarmouth and Cowes are both accessible.
The facilities list covers most of it: dishwasher, parking, garden furniture. There's local fishing, horse riding, and a golf course nearby.
