Seaport Cottage

Seaport Cottage is in Ventnor, on the Isle of Wight. It's a detached cottage, so no neighbours through the walls. It sleeps four. Two bedrooms upstairs, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating.

It's between Ventnor and Bonchurch, right in the Undercliff. The garden is on the side and back of the house. It's on different levels, with steep steps going up the hill. At the very top there's a summerhouse. The view from up there is good, right out over the sea.

Inside, there's a downstairs cloakroom. The kitchen and living area are open plan. One bedroom has a double bed, the other has two singles that can be joined into a big double if you ask beforehand. We let one well-behaved dog come with you.

The beach at Wheelers Bay is a short walk downhill. Ventnor town and the main sandy beach are about half a mile away. It's a proper seaside town on a steep hill. There are pubs and places to eat along the front, like the Spyglass Inn. It has its own microclimate, so it's often a bit warmer than the rest of the island.

Bonchurch village is next door. It's known for writers like Dickens having lived there.

Within about half an hour's drive you can get to a lot of the island's main spots. That includes Osborne House, Carisbrooke Castle, The Needles at Alum Bay, and Blackgang Chine. Ventnor Botanical Gardens are very close.

The facilities are what you'd expect. There's a woodburning stove, dishwasher, TV, WiFi, and parking. Bedding and towels are included. For local info, the Visit Isle of Wight site is useful, as is the National Trust Isle of Wight page for their properties.
