Woodpecker is a yurt on a farm just outside Newport. It's one of three on the site: Robin, Kingfisher, and this one. You get your own enclosed garden area with it.
It sleeps five, but it's all in one room. One king-size bed, three singles. There's a proper en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower. The kitchenette is basic, with a hob and a fridge. There's a wood-burning stove which does a good job of heating the space. The yurt is newly done up, so it's clean and in good order.
The setting is quiet farmland. You'll hear birds, and you might see pheasants or red squirrels. There's an owl around sometimes. You can hear the other families on the site when kids are playing, but it's not a place for loud groups.
Newport is about five minutes drive for shops and supermarkets.
For beaches, you're close to the north coast. Gurnard and Cowes are about ten minutes away. The south coast with spots like Ventnor is maybe half an hour's drive.
If you like walking, the Isle of Wight Coastal Path is easily accessible. The National Trust has several properties here, like the Needles Old Battery or Mottistone Manor.
Facilities: the yurt has its own parking space, bedding is included, and there's a highchair available. There's a shared kids' play area on the farm. No pets allowed.
