Red Squirrel Lodge is on our small farm near Wootton on the Isle of Wight. It's a single-storey lodge, all on the ground floor. It's wheelchair friendly, with wide doors, grab rails, and a wet room. It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms.
The lodge looks out over the fields and the ancient woodland at the back of the farm. You'll see a lot of wildlife. Red squirrels come right up to the deck. We've got wildlife cameras you can borrow if you want to see what's about at night.
Inside, it's all open plan. The kitchen, dining, and living area are one space. The worktops are a bit lower than standard to make it easier for wheelchair users. There's underfloor heating, which is good for the island's damp days.
Outside, you've got your own deck with a table and a BBQ. It's private. The garden is shared with the other two properties on the farm, The Coach House and Suzie the shepherds hut, but there's plenty of space.
The village of Wootton is about a mile down the lane. There's a shop, a post office, and a decent chippy. The nearest pub serving food is half a mile walk. For a proper beach, Ryde is about five miles. It's sandy and good for families.
Newport, the main town, is three miles for bigger supermarkets. If you're driving, most places on the island are within half an hour. The Needles and Alum Bay are about a 25 minute drive. Osborne House is about 20 minutes. For walkers and cyclists, there are good paths right from the farm, and the old railway line to Newport is flat and easy.
In terms of what's here: all bedding and towels are included. There's a washing machine, dishwasher, TV, and WiFi. We've got a cot and highchair if you need them. You can bring up to two dogs. There's parking right outside.
