Red Squirrel Lodge

Red Squirrel Lodge is on our small farm near Wootton. Hillgrove is quiet, inland. The ferry terminals are easy to get to from here, it's good if you're driving over.

It sleeps six in three bedrooms, with two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. The whole place is on one level and it's wheelchair accessible. We designed it that way. There's no real step at the front door and the wet room is good for wheels.

You're on a farm. We get the local red squirrels here, they visit the deck. You'll probably see birds and foxes. There's an old woodland out the back you can walk into, lots of bluebells in spring. We've got wildlife cameras you can borrow if you want to see what's about at night.

The lodge itself has a washing machine, dishwasher, and WiFi. There's a patio with a barbecue. Parking right outside. We include bedding and towels. You can bring up to two dogs.

Wootton village is about a mile away. There's a shop there, a Post Office, and a fish and chip shop. You can walk to a pub and a restaurant in half a mile. Ryde and its beaches are five miles, Newport is three.

If you like walking or cycling, it's a decent base. There are old railway tracks to cycle along. For a proper beach day, you'll need to drive. For attractions, Osborne House and Carisbrooke Castle are about twenty minutes away. The Needles are probably half an hour's drive.

I own three places on the site: this lodge, a two-floor Coach House, and a small shepherd's hut. You can book them together if you've got a bigger group.
