Coastguard Cottage
Coastguard Cottage is on the Esplanade in Ryde. It's a terraced house, right on the front. You walk out the door, cross the road, and you're on the beach. It's that straightforward.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom, plus a separate toilet downstairs. It's got a 4 Star rating. We don't take pets.
The cottage is long and thin. The main living area is at the back, so it's a bit quieter from the road noise. The kitchen is fine for holiday cooking. There's a small yard out the back.
Ryde itself is handy. You've got your shops, cafes, and a Waitrose about ten minutes walk away. The beach is stony and sandy, and you get a clear view of Portsmouth and the Spinnaker Tower from there. The promenade has tennis courts and a bowling alley.
If you want to explore, the National Trust and Visit Isle of Wight sites have good ideas. Within half an hour's drive, you can get to Osborne House in East Cowes, or Carisbrooke Castle near Newport. Cowes and Yarmouth are about twenty five minutes away if you're into sailing towns.
The facilities are what you'd expect. Wifi, TV, washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. There's no dedicated parking, but you can usually find a space on the nearby streets.
