Horseshoe Cottage
Horseshoe Cottage is in Porchfield. It's a quiet village, roughly in the middle of the Isle of Wight. It’s semi-detached, one of a pair.
The cottage sleeps three. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It has a 3 Star rating. It's clean, comfortable and been done up, but it's not a show home. It's a cottage.
You get private parking on site. There's an enclosed garden with a patio area to sit out.
The local pub is about a mile away. The nearest shop is two miles, in Shalfleet. Newport is about four miles. That's where you'll find the supermarket, a cinema, and most of the restaurants.
For beaches, Thorness Bay is two miles down the lane. Compton Bay, which is good for surfing, is about a fifteen minute drive.
The walking and cycling is the main thing here. The Coastal Path and the round-the-island cycle route both pass the end of the lane. You can get straight out into the fields. Newtown is nearby, it's an old town run by the National Trust now and an RSPB site. You can walk there.
In terms of getting about, Cowes is ten minutes away by car. Yarmouth is about twenty minutes. The open-top bus tours are a good way to see the island if you don't want to drive.
Facilities: there's a washing machine, a woodburning stove for cooler evenings, and bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs.
