Orion
This is Orion. It's a thatched cottage in Wellow over on the Isle of Wight. Parts of it are pretty old, from about the 1750s. It's part of a group of places around a yard, but you've got your own front door.
It sleeps four. Three bedrooms and two bathrooms, which is handy. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well looked after. One of the bedrooms and a toilet are on the ground floor, which is good if stairs are a problem. The garden is enclosed and quite big.
It's all on one level inside, which they call single-storey. The ceilings are a bit lower in places because of the thatch, so just mind your head if you're tall. The stairs to the mezzanine are a proper cottage staircase, so they're a bit steep and narrow.
Wellow is quiet. There's a shop and a pub about a mile away. The sailing town of Yarmouth is a five minute drive. You can get the car ferry to Lymington from there.
For beaches, Colwell Bay is close. It's shingle and sand, good for swimming. Totland Bay is along the coast. If you want surf, Compton Bay is about a fifteen minute drive. The Needles are just past there.
If you like walking, the Tennyson Trail starts nearby. For a family day out, Tapnell Farm Park is popular. Carisbrooke Castle is about twenty minutes by car.
What's here: there's a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and parking right outside. Bedding and towels are included. We can take one well-behaved dog. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them.
