Badgers Sett Brook
Badgers Sett Brook is over in Brook. It's a detached barn conversion, so you've got it to yourselves. It's got one bedroom and bathroom for two people, and it's a 4 Star place. That means it's pretty well kept and comfortable.
The stairs up to the bedroom are a proper stepladder, not a normal staircase. You need to be okay with that. There's a wood burner in the sitting room which is nice in the cooler months. The garden is a patio area with a table and chairs. It's enclosed, which is good if you bring a dog. You can bring one dog.
Facilities are all there: WiFi, TV, washing machine, and parking right by the cottage. Bedding and towels are included.
You're about half a mile from Brook Bay beach. It's a sandy beach and it's good for walking. At low tide out at Hanover Point, you can see the fossil forest and dinosaur footprints. It's a ten minute drive to Freshwater Bay for a swim or kayak.
There's a pub about three quarters of a mile away. The nearest shop is a couple of miles, so you'll want to stop in on your way from the ferry. For a bigger shop, there's Lidl in Freshwater.
If you like walking, the coastal path runs right along here. For cycling, the island is very popular. The old railway line track from Yarmouth to Freshwater is flat and easy. The full round-the-island route is a proper challenge if that's what you're after.
It's a good spot for seeing the west of the island. The Needles are about fifteen minutes by car. For a day out, you can drive to Compton Bay or go into Yarmouth for the harbour. National Trust Isle of Wight has most of the coastal spots covered if you're planning walks.
