Priory Barn is in Totland, on the west end of the Isle of Wight. It's a detached place, converted from a barn. It's next to the owner's house, Priory Cottage, which is a thatched stone cottage you'll see from the windows. The cottage has some history, it used to belong to Lord Tennyson. His friend G.F. Watts lived next door.
It sleeps five people. There are two bedrooms and one bathroom. It has a 4 Star rating. The main living area is open plan.
Totland Bay is just over a mile away. It's a good beach for swimming, with sand and shingle. The view across the Solent to the mainland is very clear. There's a restaurant, a pub, and a cafe there.
For surfing or kite surfing, you'd want to go to Compton Bay on the south coast. It's about a ten minute drive. Compton is also known for fossils and dinosaur footprints at low tide. You can book tours for that.
A lot of the land around here is owned by the National Trust. The Tennyson Monument and Headon Warren are nearby for walks. National Trust Isle of Wight has more information.
The Needles landmark is a short drive away. It has the chairlift, amusement park, and coloured sands at Alum Bay.
Other places within about half an hour include Osborne House, Carisbrooke Castle, and the town of Cowes. English Heritage South East covers some of those.
Facilities: it's dog friendly, one pet allowed. There's parking on site, including an electric vehicle charger. You've got a washing machine, dishwasher, TV, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if you need them. There's also bicycle storage if you're bringing bikes.
