The Sergeants Quarters is in Golden Hill Fort, up near Freshwater. It's one of eighteen houses inside the old fort. The building is hexagonal and a proper landmark, a Grade I listed place.
It sleeps seven, in three bedrooms, and there are four bathrooms. One of them is a wet room downstairs. Everything inside feels solid: brick vaulted ceilings, oak floors, underfloor heating. It's all done to a high standard.
Outside, there are communal rooftop gardens you can use. The views are full circle, out over the Solent and the countryside. The parking is in the central courtyard.
You're in Golden Hill Country Park, about 50 acres of it. It's an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Good for walks right from the door. Freshwater Bay is close. You can drive to The Needles and Alum Bay in about ten or fifteen minutes.
The fort is old, from the 1860s, so the layout is what it is. The rooms are generous but the shape is unusual. It's all on one level internally, which is helpful.
Facilities: it's got a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi. There's a cot and highchair if needed. Pets are allowed, up to two. The place is rated 5 Star.
