Solent View

This is Solent View in Freshwater. It's one of three bungalows in a row. The main thing is the view from the front. You look straight out over the Solent to the mainland. On a clear day you can see ships going past for hours. It's quite an exposed spot, up on the cliff. You'll want a coat if it's windy.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. Everything's on the ground floor. It's a 3 Star place, so it's comfortable and clean. The furniture is what you'd expect.

The garden is shared with the other bungalows, but there's plenty of space. There's also a small play area and a pitch and putt course on site, which is handy if you've got kids.

A word of caution: the cliff edge is unfenced. It's fine if you're careful, but you'd need to watch children closely. Don't let them run ahead.

Colwell Bay beach is a short walk down the hill. It's sandy and shingly, good for paddling. There's a cafe and a restaurant there. For a bigger beach with surf, you drive to Compton Bay. It's about a ten minute drive. The dinosaur fossils are at Hanover Point, which is part of that beach.

Freshwater village has a shop about a minute's walk away. For a pub meal, you'd go into Freshwater Bay itself, which is a bit further.

You're well placed for the west of the island. The Needles are a couple of miles along the coast path. You can see them from the walk. The Needles Old Battery is National Trust. Carisbrooke Castle is about twenty minutes by car. Osborne House in East Cowes is maybe half an hour.

Inside, there's a TV, WiFi, a washing machine. Bedding is provided. There's parking right outside. No pets, sorry.
