Solent Point

Solent Point is a bungalow in Freshwater, on the Isle of Wight. There are three of them next to each other, but you’d just be renting one. This one sleeps two people in two bedrooms, which is a bit unusual but handy if you want some space. There are three bathrooms.

It's on a cliff top. The view is the main thing. You look straight out over the Solent to the mainland. You can see The Needles from the garden. It's peaceful and you can watch the boats. The cliff edge is unfenced, so you really do have to watch children.

The bungalow is all on one floor and has wheelchair access. It’s got a 3 Star rating, so it’s clean and functional, not luxurious. There's a patio with that view, a washing machine, and parking. Bedding is included. No pets.

You're a few minutes walk from Colwell Bay. It's a nice, calm beach for swimming. There's a bar and restaurant there. For surf, you drive to Compton Bay, about fifteen minutes. There are dinosaur footprints in the rocks at low tide at Hanover Point.

There's a shop about twenty yards away. A pub and another restaurant are about a mile and a half along the coast in Totland.

The coastal path is right there. You can walk to The Needles in about half an hour. The Needles Landmark Attraction is there if you want the chairlift or the amusement park.

Other places to go within about half an hour's drive include Osborne House, Carisbrooke Castle, and the sailing town of Cowes. For planning days out, the National Trust Isle of Wight page is useful, and so is Visit Isle of Wight.
