This is Apple Tree Cottage in Shorwell. It's a thatched cottage, one of a row, right on the village road. It's a four star place, which means it's comfortable. It sleeps four, in two bedrooms, with one bathroom. You can bring one dog.
It's got a long garden that's enclosed, so it's safe for kids or a dog. There's a table and chairs out there, and a summerhouse. It's a good spot for a barbecue.
Inside, it's been modernised but it's still a cottage. That means some of the ceilings are low in places because of the beams. The stairs are steep, as you'd expect. All the bedding and towels are included. There's a washing machine, a dishwasher, WiFi, and a TV.
The village shop and post office is about a minute's walk away. The pub, which does food, is maybe three minutes up the road.
For getting around, the whole island is accessible. The south coast beaches, like Compton or Freshwater, are about a 15 to 20 minute drive. Carisbrooke Castle and Osborne House are both well worth a visit if you like history. For walks, the National Trust looks after a lot of the coastline and downs. The official Isle of Wight site has maps and event listings.
Other things people tend to do are the Needles, the steam railway at Havenstreet, or the model village at Godshill. They're all within half an hour by car.
