Apple Tree Cottage is in Shorwell, down on the Isle of Wight. It's my place. It's at the end of a row of thatched cottages, right on the village road. The thatch is real. It sleeps four, with two bedrooms and one bathroom.
It's a 4 Star cottage, which is good. It means it's comfortable and everything works, but it's still an old place. You should know the stairs inside are steep and a bit narrow. They're fine if you take your time. The garden is long and enclosed, up a few steps from the house. There's a table and chairs out there, and a summerhouse at the far end. Useful for kids or just getting out of the sun.
It's got a washing machine and a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. There's a TV and WiFi. We can take one well-behaved dog.
Shorwell is quiet. There's a village shop and a post office about a hundred yards away. The pub is a bit further, maybe three hundred yards. They do food. For a bigger shop, you'd drive to Newport or Freshwater.
The island is good for walking. There are paths everywhere. The south coast cliffs and beaches like Compton are about a fifteen minute drive. Ventnor Botanic Garden is worth a look if you're into that, it's about half an hour away. National Trust Isle of Wight has details on their places like The Needles Old Battery. Carisbrooke Castle is English Heritage, about twenty minutes by car. Carisbrooke Castle.
If you're driving, you can get to most places on the island in under forty minutes. Yarmouth, Cowes, Ryde, all within that.
