Southview is an old stone cottage in Porchfield. It's from the 16th century but we've done it up, so it's solid but comfortable. It's at the end of a quiet lane, with fields on three sides.
It sleeps four, in two double bedrooms. They look out over the fields. You can see animals and birds. The stairs are fine. There's one bathroom with a walk in shower.
Outside, there's an enclosed garden. It's safe for dogs, we've had two ourselves. There's a shed with the BBQ and garden furniture in it. You can park one car easily, maybe a second if needed.
Inside, there's a wood burner in the main room. We'll have it laid ready for you. The floor is wood. There's a TV, WiFi, and a washing machine. All the bedding and towels are included. We've left a cot and highchair in the cupboard under the stairs if you need them.
The local pub is about half a mile away. It does good food. It's a nice walk down the lane. Newport is three miles away for supermarkets and other shops.
You can walk from the door. Newtown Nature Reserve is to the west. There's a quiet beach, Elmsworth, to the south. It's about two miles. Parkhurst Forest, which is big, is to the east. All of it's on footpaths or quiet roads.
Nothing on the Island is too far. You can get to most places within 45 minutes. We've left maps and leaflets in the cottage.
If you're planning ahead, the National Trust Isle of Wight page is useful, and so is the Island's official rights of way site for the footpaths.
