Stable Cottage
Stable Cottage is a detached bungalow next to our house in Carisbrooke. It's just the one bedroom, a double, so it's for two people. There's a shower room, an open plan living area, and your own garden at the back. At the front there's a deck with a couple of chairs.
It's got a 3 Star rating. Everything's clean and works, but it's not a luxury hotel. It's a cottage.
The village is quiet. Carisbrooke Castle is a five minute walk up the road. It's a proper castle, a fortress. They've got donkeys there. It's run by English Heritage.
Newport is about a mile and a half away. That's where the main shops are. The beach at Ryde is roughly a 15 minute drive. Cowes and Yarmouth, for the sailing, are about 20 minutes by car.
If you walk, the footpaths are good. You can get onto the Tennyson Trail from here, which goes across to the Needles. The cycling is very popular. The old railway line path is flat and goes to the west of the island.
Inside, it's got a TV, a washing machine, and parking right outside. Bedding and towels are included. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
The local shop is a couple of minutes' walk. The pub in the village does food and is about ten minutes on foot.
