The Blacksmith Shop is in Shorwell village, right by the green. It’s detached. The garden is enclosed, which is handy if you’ve got dogs. It’s not huge, but it’s yours.
It sleeps five. Three bedrooms, one bathroom. The bathroom has a walk-in shower over the bath. It’s a 3 Star place, so it’s comfortable and clean. It was the old blacksmith’s, so the rooms are a decent size but the layout is a bit cottagey. The stairs are fine, just a bit steep and turning, like most old places here.
There’s a wood burner in the living room. We leave a starter basket of logs. The kitchen has a dishwasher and a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. WiFi works. You can park right outside.
The village shop and the pub are about five minutes’ walk. The pub is 18th century, does food. The shop has the basics.
You’re in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are footpaths straight from the door. The coastal path is about a twenty-minute drive. Compton Beach is good for surfing, about fifteen minutes by car.
For days out, Carisbrooke Castle is about twenty minutes drive. Osborne House is similar. The Needles and Alum Bay are half an hour. If it rains, Tapnell Farm Park is good for kids, that’s ten minutes away.
You can bring up to three dogs. There’s an extra charge per dog.
