The Blacksmith Shop is in Shorwell, on the Isle of Wight. It used to be, well, the blacksmith's. It's detached and sits right by the village green, which is quiet and nice to sit out on.
It sleeps five in three bedrooms. There's one bathroom with a walk-in shower. It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's comfortable and clean, not luxurious. The garden is enclosed.
Inside, there's a woodburning stove for cooler evenings. Facilities are all there: wifi, a washing machine, dishwasher, and parking. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to three dogs.
The local shop and the pub are about a quarter of a mile away. The pub is an 18th century country pub, it does food.
For getting out, you're right in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are footpaths and cycle routes starting from the village itself, past thatched cottages and into the downs. The south coast beaches, like Compton or Freshwater, are about a fifteen minute drive.
Within half an hour you can get to a lot. Osborne House is in East Cowes. Carisbrooke Castle is near Newport. The Needles and Alum Bay are at the western tip. Over towards Ventnor there's the Botanical Gardens. For a family day, Tapnell Farm Park is close by.
