Bittern Lodge

Bittern Lodge is on the Cromer Country Club site. It's a semi-detached, Swiss chalet style house. You're up on the hillside here, so you get views over the tiered gardens and out towards the lighthouse.

It sleeps five. Three bedrooms, one bathroom. The main bedroom has a small balcony. There's a twin room, and then paddle stairs go up to a mezzanine level with a single bed. The stairs up to that mezzanine are quite steep, just so you know. The place was newly furnished in 2025, so the mattresses and sofa are all good.

Being on the Country Club means you can use their facilities. That's the indoor heated pool, sauna, steam room, and gym. There's also a games room. The on-site restaurant and pub is open all year. The golf course is right next door. The whole site is built into a hill, so there are slopes and steps. It might be tricky if you have mobility issues.

The beach and town centre are about a mile away. You can walk it along the cliff top, or along the sand at low tide. Cromer has the pier, shows, plenty of cafes and chip shops, and a cinema. It's a classic seaside town.

If you like birdwatching, this is a good spot. There's a collection of bird books in the lodge and a log for sightings. The RSPB reserves at Cley Marshes and Hickling Broad are a short drive away. The North Norfolk coast road is good for a day out.

Facilities: there's parking, a washing machine, WiFi, TV, a cot and highchair if needed. Bedding and towels are included. There's an electric vehicle charger. No pets.
