The Caddy's Lodge

The Caddy's Lodge is in Belford village, up near the Northumberland coast. It's a new build, from this year actually, so everything is fresh and clean. It's detached, with its own garden which is fenced in, so it's good if you've got dogs or kids.

It sleeps eight. Four bedrooms, two bathrooms. Two of the bedrooms are downstairs. One of those has a kingsize bed, the other has two singles that can be zipped together into a super king. They share a bathroom between them. Upstairs there are two more bedrooms, same setup with one kingsize and one twin that zips together. The one with the kingsize has a walk-in wardrobe, but the ceiling is sloped so watch your head if you're tall. There's a family bathroom upstairs with a bath.

Downstairs is open plan: kitchen, dining area, and living room all together. There's a smart TV and the patio doors go out to the garden. Everything you'd expect is there: dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. We can take two dogs.

Belford itself is a small place. There’s a shop and a couple of pubs within walking distance. The coast is about five miles east. Bamburgh beach is spectacular, with the castle on the headland. Holy Island is a bit further up the coast. You have to check the tide times for the causeway. Alnwick Castle and its gardens are about twenty minutes south. For walking, the Cheviot hills in the Northumberland National Park are about half an hour's drive west.

If you want a big day out, Edinburgh is just over an hour away by car, straight up the A1.
