The Old Farmhouse
The Old Farmhouse is in Detchant, which is near the village of Belford in Northumberland. It's a proper detached farmhouse, so you're not sharing walls with anyone. The garden is enclosed and has a lawn and patio.
It sleeps six. There are three bedrooms upstairs and one family bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well equipped. The ceilings are high downstairs, but doorways are cottage-height, so watch your head. The stairs are farmhouse stairs, a bit steep.
There's a real fireplace you can use. The kitchen has a dishwasher and washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. We have a cot and highchair if needed. You can bring up to two dogs. There's parking on the gravel drive for two cars.
The view from the front is across farmland towards the coast. It's not right on the beach, but you can see the sea from upstairs on a clear day. Bamburgh Castle is about four miles away, so less than ten minutes in the car. The beach there is massive. Holy Island is a bit further, maybe twenty minutes, but you have to check the tide times.
For other days out, Alnwick Castle and Gardens are about a twenty minute drive. The Cheviot hills are half an hour west if you want proper walking. The Northumberland Coast Path goes right past Bamburgh.
