Haven Cottage is on Holy Island, which is about 8 miles out to sea from Northumberland. Twice a day the tide comes in and covers the causeway road, so the place goes quiet. It cuts you off for a few hours. You can see the tide times online.
The cottage itself is an old fisherman's place. It sleeps three, but that's one double bed and a single Z-bed they can pull out from a cupboard. It's really set up for a couple. It's small, but it's been done up nicely inside. There's an electric vehicle charger if you need it.
You can walk to the harbour in a few minutes. There are a couple of pubs that do food, and a shop. There are long sandy beaches too.
The main things here are the history and the wildlife. Lindisfarne Castle is perched up on a rock, and the Lindisfarne Priory ruins are where the famous Gospels were made. If you like birds, it's a good spot.
When the tide's out, you can drive to the mainland. From there, Bamburgh Castle is about 15 minutes away. Seahouses is nearby too; you can get boat trips from there out to the Farne Islands to see the puffins and seals.
There's a book collection in the cottage about the island, and some old postcards. There's also a DVD of a Time Team episode they filmed here.
Facilities wise: there's Wi-Fi, a shower, a dishwasher, a TV, and an enclosed garden with a barbecue. Bedding is included. You can bring up to two dogs.
