The Granary

The Granary is on Holy Island in Northumberland. It sleeps eight, in four bedrooms. There are two bathrooms. It's a 4 Star property.

The building is old. Really old, about 500 years. It's made from stone from the Priory. The ceilings have beams made from old herring boat masts. It was refurbished a few years ago, so it's comfortable, but it's still an old building. The stairs are steep in places.

It's right on St Cuthbert's Square. You can see the sea, the castle, and the Priory from the windows. There's no garden or outside space of your own, but you're on the island so you just step outside.

On the island, there's a shop and a post office about a quarter of a mile away. They sell basics. There's a pub and a restaurant about 200 yards from the door. The beach is a short walk.

You need to check the tide times for the causeway. You can only drive across at certain times. The council website has the safe crossing times.

For days out, Bamburgh Castle is about 15 miles away. Seahouses, for boat trips to the Farne Islands, is 19 miles. Berwick-upon-Tweed is 13 miles. The Northumberland National Park and the Cheviot Hills are within a 30 minute drive. Edinburgh is about an hour by car, or 40 minutes on the train from Berwick.

Facilities include a washing machine, dishwasher, TV, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There's a woodburning stove. We can provide a cot and highchair. Sorry, no pets.
