Spindlestone West Mains

Right, Spindlestone. It's a cottage near West Mains. It's that modern barn conversion style, red brick, nice and private. It's for two people. One bedroom upstairs, one bathroom.

It's peaceful here. The main room looks out onto the garden, which goes down to a little stream. There's a wood burner for winter, and a patio area outside the front.

The beams inside have carvings on them of local myths. That's because the place is named after an old local story. The cottage used to be a cow shed, part of a small farm. It's comfortable, not a museum piece.

You're well placed here. The coast is close. It's about ten minutes in the car to get over to the causeway for Holy Island. You need to check the tide times for that. Big beaches like Bamburgh are a short drive north.

Berwick-upon-Tweed is about ten miles away. It's a proper old walled town. Alnwick, with its castle and big gardens, is about twenty miles. If you want to go further inland, the Northumberland National Park and the Cheviot hills are within half an hour. There's good cycling on the quiet roads.

Facilities: It's got a dishwasher, a TV, WiFi, and parking right there. Bedding and towels are included. No pets.

There's a shop and a pub a couple of miles away. They're handy.
