The Lookout
The Lookout is in Polruan, which is over the water from Fowey. It's a tall, thin cottage right on the harbour. You're looking straight out at the water and the boats coming and going.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating. It's clean and it works, but it's not fancy. The stairs are steep. It's an old fisherman's cottage, so that's how they are.
The best bit is the view. The main living space is up on the second floor. There's a window seat there where you can just sit and watch the harbour. The bedrooms have the same view over the water.
Polruan itself is small. There's a shop, a couple of pubs, a bakery, and a café. The foot ferry to Fowey is about a minute's walk from the door. It runs all day. Fowey has more shops and places to eat.
You're on the South West Coast Path here. You can walk east towards Lantic Bay or west around to Fowey. The ferry to Fowey means you can do a circular walk without a car.
If you drive, you're well placed. The Eden Project is about 25 minutes away. Charlestown, with its tall ships, is about 20 minutes. You can be on the south coast beaches like Par Sands or the north coast surf spots like Watergate Bay in under half an hour.
Facilities: it's got a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. We take up to three pets.
