The Reading Room
The Reading Room is in Askham. It's an old village reading room, hence the name. It's a two bedroom cottage that sleeps four.
The rating is 4 Star, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped. There's a dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, and parking right outside. The garden is enclosed.
The beds are zip-and-link, so they can be set up as superkings or twins. Just let us know what you need. The bathroom has a full-sized bath with a shower attachment over it.
A couple of things to be aware of. There's a low doorway in the first floor bedroom, so watch your head. And we can take one well-behaved dog.
The Queen's Head pub is just a couple of doors down. Askham Hall, with its gardens and restaurant, is a short walk away. For a bigger shop, Penrith is about a 15 minute drive.
You're well placed for the Lowther Estate, which is right on the doorstep. You can hire bikes there. Aira Force waterfall on Ullswater is about a 20 minute drive. From there, you can get a steamer on the lake.
