Cattle Cake Cottage is in Askham. That's in the north of Cumbria, between Penrith and Ullswater. It's a barn conversion we did up in 2024.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both downstairs, and two bathrooms. One is an en-suite to the main bedroom. The other has a separate bath and shower.
Upstairs is all open plan. Living room, kitchen, dining area. There's a wood burner and a smart TV. The stairs are a typical cottage staircase, so they turn a corner and are a bit steep.
You're in a quiet spot here. There's a pub in the village, a couple of minutes' walk away. Askham is small and quiet. For bigger shops or a supermarket, Penrith is about a ten-minute drive.
Ullswater is very close, maybe five minutes by car to the nearest point. You can walk from the cottage into the fells without getting in the car. The Lake District National Park site has good walking info.
Facilities: it's got what you'd expect. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, parking. There's an electric vehicle charger. We can provide a cot and highchair. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
It's a 5 Star rating, which means everything is new and in good order. It's a comfortable base. You're well placed for Penrith, Pooley Bridge on Ullswater, or heading further into the Lakes. Lowther Castle is just down the road if you want a local visit.
