For those who enjoy walking, you do not need to drive anywhere as there are many fabulous walks from the door with stunning views, including the nearby Grasmere and Rydal Water circuit. Furthermore the most well-known ‘Central Fells’ are just a short drive away. Traditional events such as the rushbearing ceremony and Grasmere Sports and Show still take place during the summer months. Followers of Wordsworth can pay a visit to the churchyard at St Oswald’s, where beneath the yews, the poet and his family graves can be found. A visit to Dove Cottage and Rydal Mount are also a must.
