Braithwaite lies midway between Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite Lake at the foot of Whinlatter Pass, looking towards Skiddaw and only two miles from the bustling market town of Keswick. There is a visitor centre on Whinlatter with Forest Trails and tracks for mountain biking and plenty of good walks on the fells surrounding Braithwaite, such as the Coledale Round and Grisedale Pike.
