This old fishermans cottage is centuries old and whilst retaining many of the attractive original features, like oak beams, sandstone fireplaces, stone stairs, and exposed stone wall. It also benefits from many modern additions designed to make your holiday comfortable, cosy, warm and peaceful. The bedroom boasts a kingsize bed and on a clear day the Scottish Galloway coast and hills across the Solway Estuary can easily be seen through the window whilst enjoying a cuppa. Venturing out, within just a few minutes’ walk, you can find an excellent pub serving great drinks and classic pub food, a tea shop serving their renowned homemade cakes and savouries, a famous ice cream shop, and more. The village with its hidden, unspoilt cobbled backstreets and eclectic houses, still retains its rich heritage from its past involvement in salt making, smuggling, shipbreaking, weaving, horse riding and herring fishing and smoking. Seasalt Cottage is the perfect base to explore Allonby and further afield.
So many varied activities to try out from golfing just down the road at Maryport golf club, or Silloth golf club, walking the Cumbria Coastal way that passes through the village, cycling Hadrians cycleway and wind and kite surfing on the beach. The Northern Fells of the Lake District is half an hours’ drive, and the market town of Cockermouth, with many independent shops and unique coffee stops just 15 minutes’ drive.
The Solway Firth lies a few miles up the road to the north. Or of course just take time to gently potter around the village and relax on the seemingly endless beach. At the end of a lovely day exploring what could be better than relaxing back at Seasalt Cottage!
