Tethera, meaning ‘three’ in traditional Cumbrian dialect, commands an elevated position with mature gardens and excellent views in the desirable village of Braithwaite, just next to Portinscale and Keswick. This beautiful bungalow provides a great base from which to explore, and a quiet, cosy retreat in a peaceful village location, right in the heart of this beautiful area of The Lake District National Park.
The property is mainly on one level with some internal steps and a galleried dining room. There’s a double bedroom with en-suite shower which then leads to the conservatory - a pleasant place to sit and watch the birds in the garden. There’s a kingsize bedroom with striking fell views, and the third bedroom features a double bed and a bunk bed, this is great if you have a family or maybe a few children who like to sleep in the same room. Note the maximum number of guests is 6, though this flexibility means guests can choose what works for them. The family bathroom comes with a bath and heated towel rail, and the living room offers comfortable easy seating and an open fire.
The kitchen is spacious and well-equipped including a dishwasher, this leads to a galleried dining room with splendid views to the rear garden. Outside you’ll find a mature and pleasant garden at the rear, please note due to the steep nature of the rear garden, access to the elevated part of the rear garden will be restricted, however the front garden more than makes up for it, with a patio, garden furniture and excellent views.
Braithwaite gives you an excellent base for your Cumbrian adventure, it’s equal distance to Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite Lake, and at the foot of the Whinlatter Pass which takes you to The Vale of Lorton. The village has a shop, café and coffee shop, and a great pub serving food and fine ales. The popular tourist magnet of Keswick is just 2½ miles away with an abundance of shops, supermarkets, bars, and restaurants along with stunning scenery and fantastic fell walks available locally.
