Outside at the rear is a raised garden with terrace and garden furniture. Dogs are welcome so feel free to bring them along, there’s plenty of local walks nearby. Located at the north-west fringe of The lake District National Park and the unspoilt Solway coast an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This quiet village location offers a change from the busy tourist hotspots of Keswick whilst still having the beauty of the surrounding local area with country walks starting from outside your front door. There’s an excellent pub in the next village serving food and local ales and nearby Cockermouth has a great range of supermarkets, pubs, restaurants, and coffee shops which is only 4 miles away. For history lovers the neighbouring village of Eaglesfield can claim to be the birthplace of John Dalton proposer of the modern Atomic Theory and Fletcher Christian of ‘Mutiny on the Bounty’ fame. If you are here to see the Lakes themselves Loweswater, Buttermere, Crummock water, Ennerdale water, Bassenthwaite and Derwent water are all within a 20-minute drive. Further afield the historic city of Carlisle, Gretna Green, the Southern Lake District and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hadrian’s Wall can be reached in around 1 hour by car.
