On the western fringe of The Lake District National Park, this former miner’s cottage has been expertly rejuvenated with great attention to detail. It’s full of original features and charm. Rowan Cottage is ideally located for exploring the quieter Western Fells and Cumbrian coast. Upstairs you’ll find two good-sized bedrooms, a double and a twin, both with comfortable beds and plenty of hanging and storage space. Downstairs features a contemporary living room with easy seating, Smart TV and gas stove with natural flame, the perfect place to cosy up in front of after a day of adventure. The fully fitted kitchen has separate integrated fridge/freezer along with a range cooker and a small utility with washing machine. There’s also a dining table and chairs for four. The bathroom features a shower over the bath. At the rear, the enclosed garden offers decking with garden furniture along with an area of artificial grass, ideal if you want to bring your dogs with you, plus there’s suitable dog walks nearby.
Situated in the village of Asby, Rowan Cottage is perfectly located between the west Cumbrian coast and the Lake District National Park. This quiet village location offers a change from the busy tourist hotspot of Keswick whilst still having the beauty of the surrounding local area with country walks starting from outside your front door. The village is served by two pubs just over a mile away. A local craft brewery/pub serves a wide variety of food and drink and is also dog friendly and a newly opened pub in 2022 on the main road.
Within a short drive you can access Ennerdale, Loweswater, Crummock and Buttermere. The Honister Pass offers a stunning route through to Derwentwater and Keswick. The cottage is just 4 miles from Ennerdale and 10 miles from the sandy beach of St Bees. The historic port of Whitehaven and the Georgian town of Cockermouth, birthplace of William Wordsworth are both less than 20-minute drive. Further afield the historic city of Carlisle, Gretna Green, the Southern Lake District and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hadrians Wall can be reached in around 90 minutes by car. Beach 7½ miles. Pub and restaurant 1¼ miles.
