Rose Cottage is attached to the owner’s farmhouse home, Rambling Rose Cottage and Rosedale Cottage are adjacent and have both been converted to a high standard, and Primrose Cottage has been converted from a former byre and stands in a courtyard which is bedecked with flower tubs, window boxes and hanging baskets. The cottages are beautifully furnished and equipped to VisitBritain ‘5 Star Gold’ standard. Guests will enjoy the friendly rare breeds sheep and ponies and visitors are welcome to walk in the fields surrounding the farm where red squirrels often visit, as well as the many public footpaths nearby. This 500-acre farm is set in an AONB, with walks from the door plus superb fell walking nearby. Keswick stands on the shores of Derwent Water and is an excellent base to explore delightful Borrowdale. In the town itself are many interesting shops, inns and restaurants, as well as a leisure pool. Cockermouth also has a swimming pool. Just 6 miles away is Bassenthwaite Lake with a variety of watersports and the Lakeland Wildlife Park. Enjoy Derwent Water, Crummock Water and Buttermere, surrounded by Lakeland’s dramatic scenery. Guests can enjoy the Lakes Distillery, 7 miles away has a lovely visitor attraction and serves good food daily. There is tennis, riding and golf, as well as good fishing locally and excellent bird watching from the farm, as well as the chance to spot the occasional red squirrel and deer, whilst it is a short drive to Osprey Watch at Dodd Wood Bassenthwaite. Shop 4 miles. There is a good choice of pubs and restaurants locally . The pretty village of Caldbeck is 4 miles, with a restaurant, tea rooms and shops. Maes Gallery and tea rooms serving food daily is within 2 miles. Uldale is 2 miles with a pub serving good food, and Ireby is 1½ miles away with a cosy pub with log fire and good food.
