Mellanby is a delightful country cottage which has been completely renovated in 2021. It offers bright and spacious accommodation and oozes quality and comfort throughout. With the idyllic location and stunning views over Criffel and towards the Lake District, it makes this the absolute dream cottage for a lovely holiday any time of year.

The open plan living/dining/kitchen at Mellanby is beautifully furnished and has a cosy wood burner for those chillier evenings. The conservatory doors open onto a secluded patio area where you can enjoy relaxing in the hot tub; perfect to return to after a day exploring the area. Ideally located for touring this beautiful area, Mellanby is just a stone’s throw from the Solway Coast where you can explore some of the stunning 200 miles or so of coastline, dramatic cliff top walks, secluded little bays and sandy beaches and delightful little coastal villages. With many and varied attractions in the area you will be spoilt for choice, from interesting historical sites throughout the region, supreme mountain biking at the world renowned 7Stanes at Mabie, to challenging hill walks and some of the darkest skies in the world. Just along the road at Powfoot, golfers will be in their element on the 18-hole links/parkland course.

Visit the county town of Dumfries with some high street shops, or the smaller towns of Dalbeattie, Castle Douglas and Kirkcudbright where you will find a variety of niche shops, art galleries and excellent restaurants.
