The Other Lodge At Old Newton
The Other Lodge at Old Newton is a delightful, detached lodge with enclosed decking. It is set on a family farm and nestles in the foothills of the Southern Uplands in Dumfries-shire, with the majestic backdrop of the notorious Devils Beef Tub as your view! The Other Lodge at Old Newton is the perfect location for a relaxing holiday in stunning surroundings. The open plan living space is beautifully furnished with patio doors opening onto the enclosed decking where you can sit and relax over a glass of wine or two. The bedrooms offer plenty of space for a family with comfortable beds and lovely bedding. Although there is no Wi-Fi, there is a good 4G signal.
The Other Lodge at Old Newton offers the peace and tranquillity of a rural retreat where you can see the red deer and sheep that are on the farm as well as an abundance of wildlife, yet it is only a few miles from the historic town of Moffat where you will find a variety of local shops and some excellent pubs and restaurants. Moffat is a vibrant and bustling town where a whole host of events are held throughout the year, from the classic car rally to gala week. Browse the many speciality shops or treat yourself to lunch in one of the many award-winning cafés and hotels in the town. Located on the scenic Southern Upland Way, Moffat is the perfect place for walkers and the town was in fact Scotland’s first ’Walkers Are Welcome’ town! Further afield there is an abundance of delights on offer, from the many beautiful beaches and forests to historic castles and stunning gardens, many belonging to the National Trust.
Indulge in a day of shopping and take a trip to Glasgow or Edinburgh, both just an hour away. There is more than 200 miles of fabulous coastline for you to discover with some stunning scenery, much of which you can discover on the South West Coastal 300. No stay at The Other Lodge at Old Newton would be complete without a trip to the Grey Mare’s Tail waterfall, one of Scotland’s favourite waterfalls plunging spectacularly 60m into the valley below.
