Wildlife and birds are abundant here with red kites being a regular sighting over the cottage.
Whilst in this lovely quiet location, Stable House is only a mile away from the local village which sits on the banks of Loch Ken. Here you can enjoy a delicious meal or your favourite tipple in the village pub. Castle Douglas, Scotland’s Food town, is just 3 miles away where you will find many independent little shops selling anything from delicious cakes and artisan food to jewellery and clothes. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants to choose from too. This unspoilt area of Southwest Scotland offers magnificent scenery, fine sandy beaches and rocky coves to explore. There are also many traditional fishing villages and harbour ports where you can wander round. This is an excellent area for walkers and cyclists, with many quiet country lanes and close to the world renowed 7Stanes mountain biking trails at Dalbeattie and Mabie.
