Venture up the stone steps to a cosy cottage for two. Cruise is a small self-catering holiday cottage located above the old stables in the traditional farmyard of Widewath Farm. This listed building was recently converted in 2022 with the care of local Cumbrian craftsmen who have brought the first floor holiday cottage up to date. Care and attention have gone into the lime plastered wiggly walls, oak floors, handcrafted oak doors and stairs, hand forged latches and handles.
Stay on the owners’ working farm, enjoying local produce, tranquillity or adventure - it’s really up to you! A stunning and timeless setting for you to explore. Stay in a fantastic, renovated Barn at the heart of the farm. Venture into the fells or the valley for some stunning cycling and walking. Visit outstanding local attractions like Lowther Castle and Gardens or spend an afternoon in the nearby village of Askham and indulge in afternoon tea and cakes.
The attractive village of Askham is only a couple of miles and is centred around two village greens, it has a well-stocked shop/off licence which is open seven days a week and two pubs. In the summer families can enjoy the outdoor heated swimming pool in the village. Not only does it have a 20 metre pool staffed by lifeguards but there is also a paddling pool, refreshments kiosk and picnicking area. This location offers easy access to the Lake District through Ullswater and Haweswater, or for the more adventurous to walk on the Helton Fells, enjoy water sports on Ullswater, or explore the beautiful Eden Valley.
