Alston, one of England’s highest towns, is centrally located in the North Pennines, one of Britain’s last undiscovered wildernesses and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There is a wide range of activities and historic attractions nearby including a steam railway, historic mining attractions, fishing, golf and cycling routes including the Pennine Cycle Way and Coast to Coast.
There are many local footpaths with stunning views and wildlife, as well as the Pennine Way on the doorstep. It is also ideally placed for days out in the glorious countryside of Northumberland, Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks where you will find an abundance of castles, lake cruises, museums, halls and gardens to visit along with many other attractions There are also Water sports available nearby at Talkin Tarn and Kielder Water and Hadrian’s Wall is just 30 minutes away.
