Stanegate Cottage, a former cow byre, is a beautifully presented stone cottage in the village of Greenhead near Haltwhistle, on the edge of the Northumberland National Park. It is ideally located for visiting Hadrian’s Wall and its many forts and museums including Vindolanda, the National Park, Hexham and Carlisle. The cottage overlooks Haltwhistle Golf Course to the rear and is a great place to stay for golfers. There are also many walks and cycle routes straight from the cottage, with storage provided for bicycles and muddy boots.
Within the owner’s grounds, the cottage revolves around the cosy, open-plan living space with wood burner. There are stunning views overlooking Haltwhistle Golf Course and Hadrian’s Wall from the living room and bedrooms, and at night, the stars shine brightly so it’s perfect for stargazing.
Stanegate Cottage is in the heart of Hadrian’s Wall Country and is an ideal base for visitors, walkers, anglers, cyclists, golfers and stargazers. Visitors can also discover all of Northumberland, the Lake District National Park and the Scottish Borders from the cottage. After a long day exploring, guests can walk into the village where they will find a tea room and a local pub which serves food. Northumberland is one of England’s best kept secrets and recently won Gold for the Best UK Holiday County/Region at the British Travel Awards. Shop 3 miles, pub and tea room 300 yards.
Stanegate Cottage can be booked together with Braeside Shepherds Hut to accommodate up to 6 guests.
