2½ miles away are the hidden treasures of Hexham in the beautiful Tyne Valley, which features an ancient abbey set in a pretty park. There are some lovely walks along the River Tyne, interesting stone architecture, cobbled streets and a medieval Gaol. The town has a host of coffee shops, restaurants and pubs. 4 miles away lies the ancient Saxon village of Corbridge, whose narrow streets remain much as they did back in the day. There are numerous interesting shops, coffee shops, eateries and pubs to try. The riverbank provides a lovely place for a stroll.
